Mumbai: In a straight out-of-a-movie scene, the Dongri police rescued a 45-year-old building contractor in 24 hours after he was allegedly abducted by his acquaintance over a money dispute.

About The Case

The accused sought Rs 25 lakh ransom and threatened to kill him if the amount was not paid, said the officials. The police didn't disclose the contractor's identity owing to the potential threat to his life. The cops managed to nab Abdul Syed, who is in the same business as the victim, and one Hanif Khan during the action. However, their other accomplices gave a slip and a special hunt is on for them.

According to the police, the building contractor lives with his family in Nishanpada crosslane, Dongri. Syed had financial dealings with him and allegedly owed a significant amount of money, leading to a prolonged dispute.

The situation escalated recently when Syed and his associates Sajid, Vadala and Mohsin assaulted the contractor on Sunday night, said the cops. Subsequently, they forcibly took him on a scooter to Sewri where he was confined to a room near Dagdi mosque and beaten up. After getting information, the Dongri police formed a special team, which succeeded in tracking the victim's location. They resuced the victim on Monday. A local court has remanded the duo to police custody.
