Bhopal/Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A thief, infamous for stealing two-wheelers from Gwalior, Bhind, and Morena districts, was finally caught from Agra on Sunday night. A team of Gwalior police, acting on a tip-off, left for Agra to arrest the accused.
The accused, with the help of his gang members, would steal expensive bikes from Gwalior-Chambal region and sell their parts in UP's Agra, making it nearly impossible to trace the vehicle.
Police had been on the lookout for the said accused for months. A file was sent to the UP Police for verification and identification. A couple of days ago, Gwalior Police received a tip-off and travelled to Agra to apprehend the accused.
A case has been registered, and interrogation of the accused is underway.
According to information, the accused has been identified as Bhubaneswar Singh, a resident of Gwalior. Singh is believed to have dismantled hundreds of vehicles, making them untraceable.
Earlier, the police had arrested members of a vehicle theft gang in Shatabdipuram, Gwalior. During interrogation, the accused revealed they sold stolen vehicles to Bhubaneswar Singh in Khushiyapur, Agra. Singh's operation involved cutting the vehicles into parts and selling them separately.
Police Investigation
When police raided his residence, Singh had fled. A team led by SI Ranveer Singh was deployed to track him. On Sunday night, he returned home, and the police arrested him.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Singh primarily dealt with stolen vehicles from rural areas. His method of dismantling and selling parts made it nearly impossible to trace the vehicles. Questioning of the accused is underway.
