A bridge in Brazil connecting two states with each other, Maranhao and Tocantins, collapsed on Sunday. A tanker truck which was on the bridge carrying sulfuric acid fell into the river below and released the acid into water, leaving people further worried.

The 533-meter structure, said to have been built in 1960, crushed into rubbles pushing a tanker truck, two trucks, a car, and a motorcycle into the flowing river, reportedly 164 feet deep.

Rescue operations were initiated but paused after the acid leak was detected. The incident has claimed at least one life so far along with more than 10 people sustaining injuries.

Several visuals of the Brazil bridge's collapse have now surfaced on social media.

The chilling collapse was recorded on camera by Aguiarnopolis city councilman Elias Junior who visited the spot to throw light on the problems related to the structure.

He was seen recording a video urging respective authorities to fix the problems and make it safer for travel. In his video, Elias pointed out that the bridge was not capable of bearing heavy transport vehicles.

As he stepped on the bridge and recorded a large crack of the bridge on camera, the Brazil bridge collapsed in front of his eyes.

According to reports, the bridge which dramatically collapsed was opened for the public years ago, in 1960. Named 'Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira Bridge', the age-old structure was constructed with reinforced concrete.
