Satna (Madhya Pradesh): A 26-year-old man, fed up with the mental torture meted to him by the agents of a private finance company consumed poisonous substance on December 16 and died at the district hospital on Saturday evening.
Afterwards, his family members created a ruckus at the hospital, demanding an action against the company. On getting information, sub-divisional magistrate Rahul Silariya and city superintendent of police Mahendra Singh Chouhan rushed to the spot with other policemen.
They assured the family members of action against the private finance company. After sending youth’s body to the mortuary, the police began an inquiry into the case. According to reports, Ranjeet Choudhary, resident of Mohanna village, took a loan of Rs 1,00, 000 from the finance company.
As he could not pay the loan, the amount shot up to Rs 2, 00,000 with interest. Meanwhile, the agents of the finance company visited his house and began to mount pressure on him to pay the loan. The father of the youth, Panchamlal Choudhary, said some agents of the company visited his house on December 16 and took his son to their office.
According to Pancham Lal, he told agents not to take his son anywhere but they did not listen to him. Afterwards, Ranjeet was found lying unconscious outside his house. His family members suspected that he was tortured. Panchamlal further said that he had been harassed so much that he tried to commit suicide by consuming poisonous substance.
Nevertheless, there were no comments from the finance company on the issue. Silariya said that the police would inquire into the case and that a sum of Rs 5,000 was given to the family members of Ranjeet for his cremation.
