The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) District Headquarters No. 7 (Odisha) under aegis of Coast Guard Region (North East), conducted a Regional Level Pollution Response Exercise (Re-PREX-24) from 12 to 14 Nov 24 at Paradip.

The exercise was aimed to enhance preparedness and co-ordination among various stakeholders in responding to oil spills and other marine pollution incidents. Key participants of regional level stake holder organisation such as Paradip Port Authority, Dharma Port, Gopalpur Port, BPCL, HPCL, IOCL and Odisha State Pollution Control Board participated in the exercise.

The three days exercise included a series of activities such as professional presentations, discussions and mock drill onboard ICG Ship at sea off Paradip. This elaborate scenario based exercise provided valuable insight and effective response strategy for addressing oil spill along the sensitive coasts.

ICG takes lead role in Pollution Response PAN India and conducts training and real-time scenario based exercises for all stake holders with its benign commitment to safeguard marine environment and in ensuring the resilience of coastal communities.
