The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme of Railways is proving to be a boon for the transformation of railway stations. Over Ratlam Division of Western Railway, upgradation work under this scheme is being undertaken at 19 railway stations. Out of these, 2 stations each are located in Gujarat & Rajasthan while 15 stations are in Madhya Pradesh. Dewas Jn. is one such station being redeveloped and upgraded as Amrit Station, where many important works have been completed and some works are in progress.

The upgradation works at Dewas station are being carried out at a cost of almost Rs 30 crore. Out of the many works completed Includes the construction of circulating area, station building facade and porch at the entrance. The facade of the railway station building has been designed to give a modern outlook & to enhance the grandeur of the station building. Along with this, the waiting room at the station has also been upgraded to provide a relaxing ambiance to the passengers. New toilet blocks have been constructed and existing toilet blocks have been improved and equipped with modern amenities. Provision for separate parking for both two-wheeler & four-wheelers as well as autorickshaws have been made in the station premises with separate entry/exit.

In addition to this, widening of platform number 1 and improving its surface, Construction of additional platform cover shed as well as additional benches and water fountains for passengers to sit will be beneficial for passengers.

For the convenience of Divyangjans, Divyang friendly toilets, low height water fountains, reserved parking and standard ramp with guiding tiles are being provided. Also, provision of Divyang friendly Booking windows, inquiry counters are being made. The work of a 12 meter wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) with lift facility is also in progress.

Dewas is an important station situated on the Indore-Ujjain section of Ratlam Division. This station is famous all over India for its Bank Note Press. Chamunda Mata Mandir is situated at a short distance from Dewas station, which is an important center of faith for the people of Dewas and nearby areas. After the completion of the upgradation work of Dewas Railway Station, it will make its mark as the New Station of New India , equipped with modern, attractive and upgraded passenger facilities.
