Live Updates:

4.28 pm: Play has been called off for the rest of the day, 37 minutes before the scheduled Stumps. The light condition was not going to improve, in fact it was getting even darker at Chepauk. Play will start 10 minutes early at 9.20 am on Day 4.

4.15 pm: Bad light has stopped play at Chepauk where it has suddenly gotten quite dark and cloudy. The umpires didn't even let India captain Rohit Sharma bring on his spinners and decided to take the players off the field and wait for conditions to improve. Bangladesh are 158 for 4 in 37.2 overs, still 357 runs behind the target of 515 set by Team India after brilliant hundreds from Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant earlier in the day.

2:45 pm: Bangladesh lose their first as Zakir Hasan departs for 33. Yashasvi Jaiswal takes a stunner off Jasprit Bumrah's bowling.

2:02 pm: Highly positive start from Bangladesh as Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam bring up their 50-run stand.

1:00 pm: India have declared their innings at 287/4, meaning Bangladesh need an improbable 515 for victory.

12:35 pm: After Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill has reached the magical three-figure mark. Gill passes 100 in Test cricket for the 5th time as India's lead nears 500.

Day three of any Test is said to be a moving day and the first of the two Tests between India and Bangladesh at the Chepauk in Chennai isn't expected to be any different. The home side cemented their dominance in the first two days, resulting in a mammoth lead of 308. With Shubman Gill set at the crease and Rishabh Pant giving a glimpse what might come, the tourists could be in for a long day.

Bangladesh will only have themselves to blame after managing only 149 on the board even as the conditions were decent for batting. After a promising performance with the ball in the first innings, the Tigers have once again shown it in the 2nd, nipping out Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Virat Kohli cheaply. However, they need a massive effort again on day 3, with India threatening to take the match away quickly.
