The Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2024 was officially launched on Central Railway on September 17, 2024. Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager of Central Railway, administered the Swachhata Hi Seva Pledge to Principal Heads of Departments, HQ officers and staff at the iconic GM Office Building of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.

As part of the launch of SHS-2024 and in a bid to promote #Plant4Mother (ek ped maa ke naam), Meena handed over a Peepal tree sapling to a team of 11 women, who then led a walk with the tree sapling before planting it in the office garden, to promote environmental and Swachhata awareness. This act highlighted the campaign’s focus on fostering a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility and emphasized on inclusivity in leadership and collective ownership of responsibility towards environment and Swachhata.

Central Railway officers and employees across Headquarters and all divisions are committed to contributing 100 hours annually towards cleanliness efforts, which includes offering two hours of voluntary work per week. This initiative aims to enhance cleanliness, raise awareness and inspire action within families, communities, and workplaces. Public awareness workshops are also being conducted throughout the campaign.

Running from September 17, 2024, to October 2, 2024, the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign emphasizes the importance of cleanliness and sustainable waste management. This year's campaign is particularly significant as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, underscoring the ongoing commitment to improving sanitation and hygiene across the country.
