Thoughts on Deakin i-Week 2024

Ravneet Pawha, Vice President (Global Engagement) and CEO (South Asia) of Deakin University, stated, "Deakin i-Week 2024 reflects our commitment to support Indian students with the knowledge and experiences necessary to succeed in today’s world. We aim to provide students with current information and guidance, helping them excel in their academic and professional pursuits. Our objective is to deliver a strong international student experience, with support throughout the process."

"This event offers students, along with their parents and guardians, a chance to gain insights and make informed decisions for their futures. I encourage everyone to take advantage of what Deakin i-Week offers," he added.

Now in its seventh year, i-Week aims to provide Indian students with the knowledge and inspiration needed to shape their careers. Through direct interactions with Deakin academics, current students, and alumni, attendees can learn about studying in Australia, available academic programs, and potential career paths.

During the session in New Delhi, George Duke, Associate Head of School at Deakin University, remarked, "It has been rewarding to engage with students and their parents. The interaction allows students to ask questions directly, which adds value compared to solely seeking information online."

"This direct communication reassures students about the potential of their chosen career paths," he added.

This year, students at Deakin i-Week will have opportunities to engage with members of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment, Faculty of Health, Faculty of Arts and Education, and Faculty of Business and Law. They will also meet key staff from student support services, including Talent Development and Employment Services and Deakin Residential Services.

Isha, a commerce graduate from New Delhi, expressed her enthusiasm for her future at Deakin, stating, "I came with many questions about academics and student support in Australia. The Deakin team has been helpful in connecting me with someone who can assist me."

"I had the chance to meet Deakin alumni who provided insights on settling in and building connections," she added.

Among the parents attending the session, Manik Kheda's parents engaged with faculty and support staff, feeling reassured about their son’s education in computer science at Deakin. They shared, "Our son has always wanted to study in Australia. This event has given us exposure to Deakin, and our interactions with academics and support staff have increased our confidence."
