DIMAPUR — Dr. Pritpal Kaur, SP Phek, launched the Link Workers Scheme for people living with HIV&AIDS in Phek on November 16. During her address, she highlighted the high prevalence of HIV&AIDS in Nagaland and emphasised the need for collective efforts from civil society organisations, NGOs, and government departments to address the issue, according to an update. As a doctor, she stressed the importance of prevention, timely diagnosis, and ART (antiretroviral therapy) treatment. Dr. Kaur also pointed out that individuals at higher risk, such as drug addicts, migrants, and others, require focused attention. She further discussed the HIV Act of 2017, which protects people living with HIV&AIDS (PLHIV) from discrimination, and urged all stakeholders to work together to make Phek a district free from HIV and drug abuse.
