DIMAPUR — Dimapur district administration has decided to organised a hands-on mock exercise on November 14 at the Forest department residential area in Dimapur simulating a realistic emergency scenario. This was informed after a table top exercise held at the DC’s conference hall in Dimapur on Wednesday. The table top exercise included discussions led by resource persons on response strategies, communication plans and inter-agency cooperation for handling potential disasters. The exercise was aimed at familiarising district officials and emergency responders with the necessary disaster response protocols and promote coordinated action, stated a DIPR report. The proposed mock exercise would simulate an earthquake occurring at 9 am on November 14 with a magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale, where a residential building in the Forest department residential area is severely affected. It stated that NDRF personnel would rescue the person trapped on the top floor, three injured on the ground floor and another trapped on ground-floor room during the exercise. The DDMA project associate of Dimapur, Thejavizo Kehie, conducted the table top exercise meeting, while the deputy commandant, A Bobol, and his team from the 12th NDRF presented a detailed powerpoint presentation on earthquake response strategies.
