DIMAPUR — Nagaland Lok Sabha MP, S Supongmeren Jamir on Tuesday visited the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) office, Dimapur and interacted with the management and staff of the telecom service provider. During the interaction, General Manager of BSNL Dimapur, Masharib Gul Mufti highlighted the organisation’s ceaseless efforts to provide connectivity access to the areas in the state still not under BSNL network coverage, the NPCC stated in a press release. The GM informed that they had submitted an ambitious project envisaging the erection of 555 Telecommunication towers spread across the state under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, which would provide the long needed last mile connectivity to the consumers in the affected areas. Mufti also dwelt on the lack of optical fibre cables (OFC) connections in the state, with the exception of three districts, and underscored the importance of fiberisation of the telecom towers for faster, more efficient and reliable data transmissions.
