DIMAPUR — Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma (PMV scheme) onboarding programmee for Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts was held at the DPDB Hall in the office premises of the deputy commissioner in Chümoukedima on Thursday. Speaking at the programme, the advisor of Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, highlighted about the registration for PM Vishwakarma scheme and explained about its benefit. Jakhalu mentioned that the scheme aims to provide comprehensive support including training, technology, credit and market access to enhance their skills and livelihood for artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 trades. The trades include carpenter, boat maker, armourer, blacksmith, hammer and tool kit maker, locksmith, sculptor (idol, stone craver, stone breaker), goldsmith, potter, cobbler, mason, basket/mat/broom/ coir weaver, doll and toy maker, barber, garland maker, washerman, tailor and fishing net maker. She mentioned that the scheme envisages recognising artisans and craftspeople through PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID. The scheme included skill upgradation through basic training lasting 5 to 7 days, followed by advanced training of 15 days with a daily stipend of INR 500.
