DIMAPUR — Nikhil Bharat Banga Sahitya Sammelan (NBBSS), Nagaland, has expressed gratitude to the government of India for recognising Bengali as a classical language, placing it alongside the esteemed group of other recognised classical languages. In a press statement, the organisation said that this monumental decision highlights the rich literary and cultural heritage that the Bengali language holds, contributing significantly to India’s diverse linguistic landscape. “This recognition not only honours the contributions of Bengali literature but also strengthens the cultural identity of its speakers across the nation,” it said, adding that it lauds this move and sees it as a step towards preserving and promoting linguistic diversity. Also, it extended Navaratri greetings to the people of Nagaland and beyond and prayed that the festive season bring joy, prosperity, and unity to all.
