DIMAPUR — A two-day district level training on Mother’s Absolute Affection (MAA) for CHOs, staff nurses and ANMs started commenced at the CMO conference hall, Mokokchung, on Thursday. Delivering the welcome speech, Dr. Limanaro, DPO (RCH and UIP), called upon the participants to be attentive, learn, share and implement the acquired knowledge and practices, an update stated. In a PowerPoint presentation, resource person Dr. Imlisenba Lemtur, paediatrician at IMDH, said that that a mother is the most affective caregiver for a child. He highlighted on the optimal infant and young child feeding practices. Dr. Imlisenba also emphasised on the importance of breastfeeding and its advantages for both mother and child, the causes of refusal to breastfeed, overview of infant feeding and HIV, feeding during illness and recovery, nutrition of lactating mothers and their health and fertility.
