DIMAPUR — Social Welfare Department on Saturday launched the Poshan Maah campaign 2024 by organising a plantation drive under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (plant for mother). Rashtriya Poshan Maah is celebrated during the month of September every year. Since the launch of Poshan Abhiyaan in 2018 by the prime minister, 6 Poshan Maahs have been successfully celebrated across the country in convergence with multiple ministries/ departments across the states and union territories. ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign was launched by the prime minister on June 5 commemorating the World Environment Day. The goal of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ was to create a safer environment for future generations by reducing global warming, improving air quality and balancing the environment. The campaign was based on the idea that the bond between a mother and her child is the most precious in the world. An update from the Social Welfare department stated that its secretary, Martha Ritse, led the plantation drive.
