DIMAPUR — The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has criticised the government of Nagaland for its continued neglect on issues related to job reservation policy. “Despite multiple representations, reminders, and appeals through various channels, the government has consistently failed to acknowledge and address the significant disadvantages faced by the Konyak community due to the flawed implementation of this policy,” it said in a statement on Wednesday. According to the KSU, while the policy ostensibly aims to ensure equal distribution of opportunities across communities, it has, in practice, led to reverse discrimination against the Konyaks. “The policy’s blanket approach fails to consider the unique demographic realities and challenges faced by different communities within Nagaland, particularly the Konyaks,” it claimed. This, it said, has widened the employment gap between the Konyak tribe and other communities, and inadvertently exacerbated inequality, leaving the community at a significant disadvantage.
