Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 15: During the month of July and August this year, the Islanders had to encounter dearth of certain essential commodities. The business communities were worried as the normal berthing arrangement of coastal cargo ships commuting between Sri Vijaya Puram and Chennai got disturbed due to a new order passed by the Chairperson Chennai Port Authority (ChPA). Due this M/s TCI Seaways, which happens to be only Shipping Company commuting in the said route had to suffer for early berthing, timely loading and departure. On hearing about the problem, the Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray rushed to Chennai to meet the Chairperson of the ChPA and discuss the matter for amicable settlement.
