Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 15: In a decisive and concerted effort to reclaim critical public spaces and preserve the integrity of essential infrastructure, the District Administration, South Andaman, has launched an extensive eviction drive targeting unauthorized constructions obstructing key roadways and government land.

At Bhatubasti, significant encroachments including RCC boundary walls, illegal and unauthorized projections of shops were demolished along the road stretch at Bhatu Basti market within the Garacharama Revenue Village. These illegal structures had long disrupted public movement and undermined the intended function of the roadway. As a result of the demolition, nearly 200 square meters of road area were restored to their original condition, vastly improving traffic flow and enhancing pedestrian safety.
