Chandigarh, July 5

Mumbai Police were on high alert on Thursday evening as a sea of blue greeted the victory parade of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team at South Mumbai's Marine Drive as thousands of passionate fans gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars, bringing the traffic to a complete standstill.

However, the festive atmosphere led to several stampede-like situations, posing significant challenges to crowd control and safety.

A video shared by a local news channel captured a Mumbai police officer rescuing an unconscious girl from the crowd. Struggling against the tide of fans, the officer managed to carry the unconscious girl on his shoulder.

The police had deployed a significant number of personnel and implemented extensive security measures between Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium to manage the massive turnout and prevent any untoward incidents.
