Jammu, July 25

Army schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) at 'vulnerable areas' in Jammu region have been shut till July 29 in view of the terror threat after seven suspects were seen at Pathankot in Punjab.

Most of these schools are located close to the Pathankot-Jammu NH and are inside military installations. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure amid reports that terrorists might try to disrupt peace in Jammu.

A staff member of a Kendriya Vidyalaya here said teaching would remain suspended from July 26 to 29. "We have been asked by the authorities to keep the school closed for some days due to security concerns. Some classes will be held online as we do not want the studies to be affected adversely," another KV official said.

There have been reports of infiltration by Pakistan-trained terrorists in Jammu division. Search operations were launched in Pathankot after locals informed the security forces about the presence of seven suspected persons.
