Hisar: Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, (GJUST) has got a patent on the 'Flame retardant cotton fabric using admicellar polymerisation' process. Professor JB Dahiya and Dr Shubha of Department of Chemistry were the inventors of the process. Professor Dahiya and Professor Ashwani Kumar presented a copy of the patent certificate to Vice-Chancellor (VC) Narsi Ram Bishnoi. Prof Dahiya said the invention was related to a process for the preparation of a flame retardant cotton fabric. This process overcomes the shortcomings of the previous approaches, regardless of the amount of synthetic content, by providing an alternative mechanism. Patent Cell coordinator Ashwani Kumar said the invention would be useful in a variety of industries — involved in military, electrical, petroleum and chemical production — and emergency response fields.

Orientation at Karnal college

Karnal: Dyal Singh College, Karnal, welcomed this year's freshers with an orientation programme on July 25. The event began with a welcome address Principal Ashima Gakhar, who spoke about the significance of the new academic journey the freshers were embarking upon. She also said the college had recently been accredited the NAAC Grade A+ ranking and was completing 75 years of establishment this year. Dr Gakhar talked about numerous important topics such as the New Education Policy (NEP), examination system, scholarships, skill development, certificate courses, employability, the various clubs and associations of the college and the importance of value system. Dr Renu apprised the students of the various cultural activities they could partake in. Akash Bhardwaj, an alumnus, shared his journey as an NCC cadet and the value it added to his personal and professional life. Dr Jai Kumar, sports incharge, urged the students to actively participate in sporting activities.

Sirsa varsity VC unveils book

Sirsa: Chaudhary Devi Lal University's Department of Education student Pawan Kumar and Professor Nivedita have co-authored a book, New Life Skills Education. The book was unveiled by Vice-Chancellor Ajmer Singh Malik at his office on Thursday. The VC praised the authors and said the book would not only instil human values among students, but also inspire the inculcation of various life skills. He emphasised the increasing responsibility of educational institutions in shaping young minds and acknowledged the crucial role teachers played as role models. Professor Nivedita highlighted the book's relevance for students pursuing BEd, MEd and MA in the department, noting its alignment with the National Education Policy's focus on life skills. The book features seven chapters that explore thinking skills, coping skills and other concepts of life in detail.

Lecture at mahendragarh varsity

Mahendragarh: An expert lecture was organised on 'Importance of Hindi Language in Sapta-Sindhu Region' at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh. The keynote speaker at the lecture, organised by Department of Hindi, was Professor Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, former Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh and Vice-President of Haryana Literature and Culture Academy. The programme was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Tankeshwar Kumar. Pro Vice-Chancellor Sushma Yadav was also present on the occasion. Professor Agnihotri said Sapta-Sindhu (seven rivers) was the soul of the country and that Hindi played an important role in the regional studies. Prof Agnihotri discussed the Sapta-Sindhu in detail, including its culture, civilisations and the traditions associated with it. He said the Sapta-Sindhu was an ancient and important region, the main centre of development of culture, civilisation and language in ancient India.

Foundation Day at Sainik School

Karnal: Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar, Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM), General Officer Commanding (GOC) Hq 2 Corps, Ambala, exhorted cadets to join the armed forces. He was chairing the 64th Founders Day at Sainik School, Kunjpura, on Wednesday. He emphasised the need to develop human values and become good human beings in a scientific world. He also advised children to stay away from mobile phones. He spoke words of praise for the Indian Army, calling it the best force in the world. Principal Col Vijay Rana spoke about the achievements of the school. The best house trophy in the holding houses category was won by Chhamb House; among the junior and senior houses, Kurukshetra emerged victorious. The sports trophy was annexed by Kurukshetra House in the senior category and Panipat House in the junior category. The NDA trophy was lifted by Panipat House. The academic trophy went to Chillianwala House in the senior category and Kurukshetra House in the junior category. The coveted Champion of Champions Trophy was taken by Kurukshetra House. This year's recipient of the Chief of Army Staff Trophy for securing the best rank in the NDA exam was cadet Sagar Dhaka.
