Karnal, July 25

Congress workers and leaders staged a silent protest at Gandhi Chowk against the alleged misuse of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Congress MLAs and state leaders. They demanded the government issue a white paper to explain the number of raids done by the ED and the actions that were taken against those targeted.

Former chairman of the Haryana Minority Commission, Trilochan Singh, accused the ED of being biased. He said the ED was not operating according to the law and targeting opposition leaders at the government's behest. He said the people of the state would give the BJP a strong reply in the forthcoming Assembly elections and the Congress would form the next government.

He said, "The BJP is tarnishing the image of Congress leaders with these raids. The people of the state will teach the BJP a strong lesson because they have been misusing the ED and other enforcement agencies against opposition leaders."

A senior Congress leader, Parag Gaba, said the government should release a white paper with details of the number of raids conducted, the people targeted and the punishments that were given to the culprits. He said the people had recognised the true face of the BJP.

Senior Congress leaders Lalit Arora, Rani Kamboj, Ranpal Sandhu, and others also criticised the ED and the BJP government.
