Several development works will see the light of day, with construction work beginning soon in colonies and villages falling under the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ).

The MCYJ has invited tenders for development works worth Rs 1.25 crore. Development works were stopped during the Lok Sabha elections, but the authorities of the MCYJ are now trying to do the maximum development works before the model code of conduct is imposed in the state for the Assembly elections.

Improved roads and streets

  • Paved streets, roads and drains would be constructed in Rajinder Nagar, Shiv Dayalpuri colony, Laxmi Nagar extension colony, Model Town and Roop Nagar colony.
  • Development works were stopped due to the model code of conduct in force for the LS poll, earlier this year.
  • Civic body now trying to complete the maximum number of projects before the model code of conduct is imposed for the Assembly poll.

Ayush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner of the MCYJ, said as soon as tenders were allotted, they would start the construction of various development works.

"After the completion of the Lok Sabha elections, tenders are being issued continuously to undertake development works in the areas falling under the MCYJ jurisdiction. Development works worth crores have been started. Besides, tenders have been floated to undertake more works," said Ayush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner of the MCYJ.

He said a number of development works, including the construction of streets, roads and drains, would be done. Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha said paved streets would be constructed and underground pipelines would be laid in Rajinder Nagar and Shiv Dayalpuri colony in Ward 21. He added that various maintenance works would be done in Ward 22.

He said in Model Town (ward 8), streets and drains would be constructed from Chunni Lal's house to Sandeep Jindal's house and from Thakral garment shop to Hina collection shop.

He further said that paved streets would be constructed and pipelines for drainage of water would be laid in the newly approved Laxmi Nagar extension colony in Ward 17.

He added that in the newly approved Roop Nagar colony of Ward 12, paved streets and drains would be constructed from the tea factory to the Badhi Majra road.

"Our efforts are to provide smooth streets and roads; a clean and hygienic environment to the residents living in the MCYJ area. Therefore, development works are being done in every ward of the MCYJ," said Sinha.
