Chandigarh, July 26

Residents in outer Delhi are in a state of alarm after their tap water turned an unnatural blue last week.

Approximately 50 homes in west Delhi's Peeragarhi village were affected by the contaminated water over the weekend. The source of the contamination remains unclear.

The incident was highlighted in a viral video of the blue water coming out from a tap in a residence. Social media user @SumiranKV shared the video in a post on X and captioned it, '"Aaj blue hai paani-paanihellip;" turned into a reality in Delhi!'

'People of the capital were bored of regular water, so now for a change, the revolutionary government of @ArvindKejriwal is supplying blue water. Enjoy!' the user added.

According to reports by The Indian Express, village head Vinod Shaukeen lodged a complaint with the Delhi Jal Board. He suspects the contamination is linked to sewage and chemical waste from nearby denim-dyeing factories.

The officials said that a report on the issue is being prepared.
