The Cabinet has approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, effective January 1, 2025. This move will benefit over 1.1 crore individuals, with the additional financial impact on the exchequer estimated at Rs 6,614 crore annually, as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
