US Capitol flags will be flown at full-staff on January 20 to mark Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, as announced by House Speaker Mike Johnson. The flags will be lowered to half-staff the next day to continue honouring former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away on December 29, aged 100. President Biden had previously ordered a 30-day mourning period for Carter, which ends on January 28.
