Air India Express on Friday announced that is is expanding the number of weekly flights in its winter schedule from Kolkata to Bagdogra by 37 per cent. The Tata-owned airline will now operate over 230 weekly flights from Kolkata and Bagdogra, up from 168 during the previous winter season.This expansion includes new direct routes that will significantly improve travel options for passengers.For Kolkata, Air India Express is introducing new direct flights connecting the city to Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) and Indore, while Bagdogra will see a new connection to Chennai.The move comes as part of the airline's ongoing efforts to strengthen its domestic and international network, offering greater connectivity to and from West Bengal, the company informed in the press release."As we expand our services with a 37% increase in flights from West Bengal, Air India Express reaffirms its commitment to connecting this vibrant state with the rest of India. We are thrilled to introduce a new Kolkata-Port Blair flight next month, just in time for the holiday season, offering our guests more travel options,” said Dr. Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India ExpressConnectivity from Bagdogra and KolkataFrom Kolkata, the airline will operate 160 weekly flights, connecting the city to 14 domestic destinations: Agartala, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), Surat, and Varanasi. One-stop connectivity from Kolkata includes destinations like Delhi, Goa, Gwalior, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.The airline also serves nine international destinations from Kolkata: Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Riyadh, Sharjah, and Singapore.From Bagdogra, Air India Express will operate around 65 weekly flights connecting directly to five domestic destinations: Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.Additionally, passengers can enjoy one-stop connectivity to 17 other destinations, including Agartala, Goa, Gwalior, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Ranchi, Srinagar, Surat, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.Meanwhile, international connectivity from Bagdogra includes Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dammam, Jeddah, Muscat, Sharjah, and Singapore.Winter Schedule GrowthThis year, Air India Express’ winter schedule has grown by 30 per cent compared to the same period last year. This growth is supported by the airline’s expanding fleet, which now includes over 90 aircraft, the airlines informed in its press releaseIn total, the Air India subsidiary airline will operate more than 400 daily flights this winter, a significant increase from over 325 daily flights last year.The new winter schedule also brings several additional routes, including Chennai–Goa, Chennai–Jaipur, Chennai–Pune, Delhi–Indore, Hyderabad–Gwalior, Kochi–Pune, and Visakhapatnam–Vijayawada. Air India Express will also introduce flights to Jammu and Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) starting December 1, 2024.International connections will also see growth, with increased frequencies to Abu Dhabi, Ras al-Khaimah, and Muscat, announced Air India Express.
