Most of these threats were communicated via social media channels.In response to this alarming trend, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has instructed social media platforms to fulfill their due diligence obligations by promptly removing or disabling access to misinformation within specified timelines set by IT rules.According to new agency PTI, sources indicate that on Saturday, 11 flights each from IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara received bomb threats. In light of the escalating situation, the central government issued an advisory to social media companies, including X (formerly Twitter) and Meta. This advisory has asked the platforms to take "reasonable efforts to disallow such malicious acts including hoax bomb threats from being disseminated."The Ministry also noted that the rapid spread of these hoax threats has been exacerbated by features that allow users to easily forward or share content. Such misinformation poses serious risks, disrupting public order, airline operations, and passenger safety.
