External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at the NDTV World Summit on Monday said that India will be able to resume 2020-style patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.Speaking at the summit, Jaishankar said, it has been a very patient process of negotiations with china on border issues.Hopefully, we can come back to peace and tranquillity with China, he added.India-China's long standing 3,440km border dispute has seen some progress after four years as India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced earlier today that the two nations have agreed on a patrolling arrangement along the disputed Ladakh border. The Indian and Chinese militaries have been locked in a standoff since May 2020 following the fierce clash in the Galwan Valley later in June that year, which had seen 20 martyrs, marking the most serious military conflict between the two sides in decades. Why did India and China clash in 2020?The tensions were triggered by China's objections to Indian infrastructure projects, including the construction of a road in the Galwan River Valley that connects to an important airbase. China viewed this road as a threat to its territorial claims in the region, leading to a standoff between the two nations.
