WOMEN’S CYCLING: Dutch racer Lorena Wiebes picked up her sixth win of the year after sprinting clear of Italy’s Chiara Consonni and Elisa Balsamo at Thursday’s Brugge-De Panne one-day race. Skipton-born teenager Kat Ferguson had made a solo attack over 30km from the line and was only caught in the last three kilometres before eventually finishing 44 seconds behind Wiebes. Carys Lloyd was the highest placed Briton in 35th.
DARTS: Luke Littler continued his superb form by beating world number one Luke Humphries 6-1 in Thursday evening’s Premier League final in Newcastle. Littler now tops the table by eight points from Humphries with Michael van Gerwen a further five points back in third. Stephen Bunting lost 6-0 to Littler to remain the only player without a win at the tournament. Berlin hosts next week’s ninth leg of this 17 round competition.
NETBALL: It’s first against second and a Super League London derby when the Pulse host the Mavericks at the Copper Box Arena tonight with both clubs defending 100 per cent records. SPEEDWAY: Ipswich Witches lost only one heat on their way to crushing Belle Vue 67-23 on Thursday evening to seal a massive 117-63 aggregate Knock-Out Cup quarter final win. Joining them in the last four are cup holders Sheffield, King’s Lynn, who eased to a 53-37 success at Oxford for an overall 106-74 victory and Leicester, after they edged out Birmingham 46-44 at Beaumont Park to win 103-77 on aggregate.
