MEN’S ICE HOCKEY: Dundee Stars enjoyed a six-point weekend with their surprise 3-2 win at Elite League table-toppers Belfast, followed by a 4-3 shoot-out victory over Manchester. 

The Stars are now eight points clear of Manchester in the chase for the final end of season play-off place. 

Defending champions Sheffield remain second, three points behind Belfast after edging out Glasgow 4-3 but losing 2-1 after a shoot-out in Nottingham.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Women’s Scottish Cup holders Rangers sealed their place in the semi-finals after second-half goals from substitute Camille Lafaix and Kirsty Howat were enough to beat Spartans 2-0. 

Premier League leaders Glasgow City also progressed to the last four after edging to a 3-2 win at Hearts, Aberdeen came from behind to see off St Johnstone 4-1 and Motherwell bagged a 3-0 victory over Boroughmuir Thistle.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Rickey McGill and Prentiss Nixon both netted 24 points as Sheffield came from behind to beat Surrey 105-97 and claim the inaugural Super League Cup on Sunday afternoon. 

In league action, London battled past Newcastle 79-68 to move six points clear of Sheffield, who have three games in hand, while bottom-club Caledonia earned just their third win of the season with an 83-67 success at Newcastle.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Barcelona hold a 1-0 advantage over Benfica when they kick off the Champions League round of 16 second legs Tuesday evening. 

Liverpool lead Paris St Germain by the same margin before their match at Anfield, Leverkusen are 3-0 down as they host Bayern Munich and Feyenoord visit the San Siro needing to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Inter Milan. 

Current champions Real Madrid take a 2-1 lead to neighbours Atletico on Wednesday.
