A pervert caught with a collection of child abuse images on his mobile phone has kept his freedom.  Police raided Thomas Rain's home and seized his computer devices in June 2023 after concerns about his activity on Snapchat.  Newcastle Crown Court heard when his Samsung handset was examined a total of 20 illegal still images were found.  Prosecutor Amber Walker told the court three were in Category A, which is the most serious, six were Category B and 11 were category C.  Rain, 31, of Pine Grove, Lazonby, admitted three charges of possessing indecent images of children.  Mark Harrison, defending, said Rain, who has a job, partner and supportive family, was co-operative with the police and pleaded guilty at an early stage.  Mr Harrison told the court: "There is no excuse for the defendant's behaviour, it is perhaps a not uncommon tale of a man finding himself addicted to the use of pornography and falling into more and more explicit material."
