Arsenal’s worst fears have been realised with Kai Havertz set to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, leaving Mikel Arteta’s side without a recognised centre-forward in a major blow to their Premier League title hopes.
The Germany striker, Arsenal’s top scorer this season with 15 goals in all competitions, sustained the injury during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai designed to give Arteta’s squad a much-needed break after an intensive run of games in January. Arsenal returned to London on Tuesday and had been assessing the injury. Scan results are understood to have confirmed that Havertz is unlikely to play again this season, although it has yet to be decided whether he will require surgery.
