West Ham have sacked Julen Lopetegui and are preparing to announce Graham Potter as their manager after he agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract. The technical director, Tim Steidten, could also leave as part of the shake-up.

Final details with Potter were being settled on Wednesday, with the vice-chair, Karren Brady, rather than Steidten heavily involved in talks. Steidten has been under pressure over his transfer record and has been staying away from the training ground after a breakdown in his relationship with Lopetegui.
